STUDIO ARTIST PROGRAM

The Emerging Professional and Studio Artist programs are very different from each other. Although the singer’s level, skill set and experience are factors, these may not determine which program is a better fit.

If you audition for the Emerging Professional Program, you are automatically considered for the Studio Artist Program as well.

EMERGING PROFESSIONAL PROGRAM

TOSCA
June 30 – July 8, 2023 • Azusa Pacific University – Azusa, CA

THE CONSUL
July 9-30, 2023 • Azusa Pacific University – Azusa, CA

  • is a one or three-week opera intensive for exceptional emerging professional singers (all voice types are welcome) with a focus on performance
  • is suited for singers who typically hold a graduate degree and have sung leading roles with regional opera companies, demonstrating substantial performing experience beyond school productions
  • features LEADING ROLES in a Gala performance of Puccini’s Tosca and a fully staged production of Menotti’s The Consul, all with professional orchestra at the renovated Manoukian Performing Arts Center.
  • offers masterclasses and extensive coaching
  • professional networking
  • provides a full tuition waiver, a stipend and free housing

STUDIO ARTIST PROGRAM

June 30 – July 30, 2023 • Azusa Pacific University – Azusa, CA

  • is a four-week opera intensive program that bridges the gap between the university and the professional stage
  • is suited for singers who are currently enrolled in or have already completed their academic training
  • features LEADING, SUPPORTING and COVER ROLES as well as CHORUS (depending on level) in a Gala performance of Puccini’s Tosca and a fully staged production of Menotti’s The Consul, all with professional orchestra at the renovated Manoukian Performing Arts Center. All Studio Artists will perform in BOTH productions!

    • interactive career development workshops
    • acting (including stage combat and commedia dell’arte)
    • meditation and self-care for singers
  • provides an opportunity to create a complete professional audition package, including
    • promotional materials and portfolio

      3. Assessment and valuation of marketable artistic skills
      4. Building a support system to help reach your goals
      5. Discussion of individual challenges and personalized career advice
      6. Practical advice on business and financial aspects of the singing career
      7. Managing professional materials and social media for career advancement
      8. Sourcing professional performance opportunities at each stage of your career
  • Acting & Movement for the stage: This course provides fundamental tools and approaches that can become part of the singer’s lifelong “toolbox” for all genres and styles of music and production. Includes specialty classes in Commedia dell’Arte and Stage Combat.

AZUSA PACIFIC UNIVERSITY – AZUSA, CA

The APU campus is located in Southern California, just east of Los Angeles, a thriving multicultural metropolis with beautiful beaches and ideal summer weather. The campus is easily accessible by metro/bus for SoCal residents.

Housing is available for out-of-town artists. Guests may choose double occupancy (two people per bedroom) or single occupancy (one person per bedroom). All apartments have shared bathrooms.

-> Studio Artists

  • Application fee (non-refundable) : $39
  • Tuition: $2,600. We understand what it takes to invest in your career and we want to help! After enrollment, all participants will receive a list with Angels Vocal Art’s unique fundraising ideas, which will be further developed and personalized during the program.
    • A non-refundable $500 deposit is due upon acceptance into the program.
    • Flexible payment plans
    • Limited number of partial scholarships available
  • OPTIONAL on-campus apartment rentals
    • Double occupancy – shared bath: $1,199
    • Single occupancy – shared bath: $2,299
    • Optional linen package: $50
  • A partial tuition refund of $1,000 will be given if notified in writing and received by May 1st. After May 1st, no refunds will be given for any reason on any portion of the fees (tuition, housing), including the non-refundable $500 deposit.
